Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a warning about increasing military cooperation between Russia, North Korea, and Iran, based on Ukrainian intelligence assessments. He claims Russia is expanding its ties with North Korea by preparing to receive an additional 30,000 troops, with these preparations reportedly taking place in the Voronezh region since June. Furthermore, North Korea is expected to supply more ballistic missile launchers to Russia, enhancing their military collaboration.
This cooperation, Zelensky noted, is providing North Korean forces with valuable experience in modern warfare and exposure to advanced weapons systems. Ukrainian reports have previously highlighted the use of North Korean ballistic missiles by Russian forces, such as an incident in July near Kryvyi Rih, though these findings were initially described as preliminary.
In addition to North Korean ties, Zelensky highlighted Russia’s satellite surveillance activities, which are reportedly targeting Gulf countries and U.S. military facilities in the region. Since early July, Russia has allegedly shared some of this satellite imagery with Iran, a move that coincides with Iranian strikes occurring before and after these surveillance activities. Specifically, on July 19 and 20, Russian satellites reportedly focused on air bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait.
