Other European nations, including the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland, have also reported notable increases in mortality during the extreme heat periods. These heatwaves frequently drove temperatures above 40°C across vast regions of western and central Europe, shattering numerous national and local temperature records. Scientists attribute the growing frequency and severity of such extreme heat events to climate change.
