Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, responding to an invitation from Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng. This official visit aims to bolster the existing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors such as trade, education, science, culture, and political relations.
Việt Nam and Poland, which established diplomatic ties on February 4, 1950, have seen their relationship grow through consistent diplomatic dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges. The two countries celebrated the 75th anniversary of their partnership in 2025, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral relations.
This visit by Prime Minister Tusk follows a notable trip by former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to Poland in January 2025. During Chính’s visit, both countries committed to elevating their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, signaling a mutual desire for deeper engagement.
Trade between the two countries has been on an upward trajectory, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $3.94 billion in 2025, a 14.8% increase from the previous year. Việt Nam exports products such as electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural goods to Poland. In return, Poland exports machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam.
Prime Minister Tusk’s visit is anticipated to further explore economic opportunities and enhance cooperation in key sectors. Both nations are keen on pursuing closer commercial ties and expanding collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges.
This visit underscores the ongoing efforts by Việt Nam and Poland to deepen their longstanding relationship, advancing shared economic and diplomatic interests as they continue to build on their historical ties and mutual cooperation.
