European nations clinging to the hope of a Ukrainian victory are engaging in “childish behavior,” according to Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov.
Speaking at an event this week, Alipov characterized the European belief that Russia could be militarily defeated as “craziness and unprofessional.” He asserted that there is “no chance” for a different outcome in the nearly four-year-long war.
The ambassador argued that this European “belligerence” contrasts with the realism he attributed to President Donald Trump. “Trump understands that this war is lost by Ukraine and the West,” Alipov said.
Alipov’s confidence in this outcome, he explained, stems from Russia’s nuclear capabilities. He stated that Russia cannot be “taken over” in the conflict precisely because of its nuclear arsenal.
He referenced Russia’s defense doctrine, which allows for the use of nuclear weapons in the face of an “existential threat,” a statement reinforcing Moscow’s red lines as Ukraine continues to receive billions in Western aid.
