A recent report by the Veritas Et Ius Association has shed light on the financial activities of three codification commissions working under Poland’s Ministry of Justice. The report reveals that these commissions disbursed close to PLN 4.8 million to their members from the year 2024 until the end of June 2026. This expenditure highlights the significant financial commitments associated with these governmental bodies.
Among the commission members, Krystian Markiewicz stands out as one of the top earners, having received PLN 240,000 over the specified period. Despite being removed as the head of the Codification Commission on the Judiciary and the Public Prosecution Service, Markiewicz remains an active member of the commission, continuing to influence its operations and decisions.
The judiciary commission, in particular, has been a focal point for financial scrutiny. The report indicates that this single commission has incurred costs exceeding PLN 1.54 million for taxpayers, primarily through the organization of 36 meetings. This figure underscores the substantial fiscal impact of the commission’s activities on public funds.
However, the report stops short of providing detailed information about the attendance and individual involvement of commission members in these meetings. This lack of transparency leaves questions about the efficiency and productivity of the commission’s work. The absence of such data raises concerns about accountability and the proper allocation of resources within these judicial bodies.
